Volunteering
We are excited to offer many volunteer opportunities at Stone Ranch Elementary School and welcome your participation! Volunteers are always needed for a variety of events that happen throughout the school year in addition to helping in classrooms. Please consider volunteering your time, knowledge and abilities to enrich our programs and assist our teachers and staff.

Debate Club - Help mentor Debate Club members (grades 3-5) as they prepare for debate competitions.
Hospitality - Bring in coffee/donuts for PTA Association meetings (September 15, 2022; January 19, 2023; March 16, 2023; May 18, 2023)
Library Helpers - Volunteers help with tasks in the library such as reading to classes, checking books in and out, returning books to the shelves, repairing books, and decorating bulletin boards.
Passive Fundraising - Volunteers help manage the Escrip, Box Tops, Ralphs, and Target programs at Stone Ranch.
Yearbook - Help with taking/gathering pictures at gatherings, events and on spirit days throughout the school year, edit photos and help with yearbook layout.
STEM - Help stock supplies in the STEM lab, assist teachers, prepare and support STEM lessons.
Trailblazer RoundUp - This is our annual school kickoff event that is free to Stone Ranch students, families and the community. There are multiple areas where volunteers are needed including set up/take down, clean up, running games, cake walk, bake sale.
Reflections - Volunteers manage the Reflections Program at Stone Ranch including the National PTA contest promoting literature, arts, and music.
Field Day - Volunteers will help with set up/take down of games, check-in classes, leading games with students, and passing out popsicles to students.
Red Ribbon Week/Character Counts - Volunteers will help plan events to promote drug education and bring awareness to the students implementing the 6 pillars of character.
Handprint Tiles - Volunteers coordinate the creation and placement of hand print tiles for students and staff.
Book Fair - Volunteers set up/take down the Scholastic book fair, clean up, organize and restock the bookshelves daily. Help with checkout during school as well as 1⁄2 hour before and after school and help with the breakfast event and an evening event.
Math Olympiad - Coach and/or assist students prepare for monthly math contests.
Giving Tree - Coordinate donations from SRES families and local businesses for the purchase of gifts/gift cards to be given out during the holidays to families in need at Stone Ranch and other Poway Unified schools.
Spelling Bee - Volunteers will help with set up/take down, clean up and during Bee. Times may vary depending on students participating.
Family Event TBD - We are currently looking to plan a free family event. If you are interested in chairing a dance or other PTA/District approved event, please indicate on the attached volunteer interest form.
Variety Show - Volunteers plan and organize a variety show that will showcase the many talents of our students. Leading up to the show, volunteers will help with the audition process and coordinate the show's line up. Volunteers will be needed to help with set up, clean up and assisting the 5th grade students running the show.
Teacher Appreciation Day - Volunteers help with Teacher Appreciation Day luncheon. Including planning, set-up and
clean-up.
Read-A-Thon *NEW this year* - The Read-A-Thon challenges students to read as much as they can while collecting pledges
from family and friends for meeting their reading goals. Volunteers are needed to help plan the event, distribute information, and recognize the efforts of our students.
International Fair - Families join together to represent and host a country’s booth showcasing culture, food, arts, performance arts or folk crafts. This event is a great opportunity for the SRES community to see and enjoy our vast diversity. Volunteers are needed to represent their country of origin or heritage.
5th Grade Promotion - This is a wonderful opportunity for 4th grade parents to pay it forward to the promoting 5th grade
parents. Prior to promotion, volunteers plan and host reception following 5th grade promotion. Volunteers help with set up and clean up.

In order to volunteer at Stone Ranch, you will need proof of a TB test. As of July 2017, PUSD nurses will no longer be providing TB clearance. If you are due for a screening (once every four years), please contact a licensed health care provider. Here are a few nearby resources where you can obtain TB clearance. There may be a co-pay involved at some locations:
